This text presents the doctrine on the ordained ministry as expressed by the council of Trent and by the Second Vatican Council, trying to study them within the living Tradition and within the “reception” that, in the Church guided by the Spirit, means acceptance and renewal.
The specific aim of the article is establishing the “faithfulness” of the catechisms written after the two councils – the Catechism of Trent and the Catechism of the catholic Church – compared to the council documents.
The text reports more extensively the way the Second Vatican Council was “received” through the most significant moments (the Seventies and the Nineties) of the reflection-discussion on the pastoral ministry, in particular as regards the ministry of priests.
